Hello and welcome to Your Flesh, on-line exclusively and officially back on point after a two-year absence from the publishing game. For the many faithful who have stood by patiently, thanks. You knew full well we’d be back in action and hopefully you will find the wait was worth it and if not, well, you know what you can do with that...

Your Flesh was started as an outlet of self-expression and labor of love among friends who wanted to tout the things they were into in the autumn of 1981. Stuff then most to do with American punk rock, alternative/outlaw art, politically incorrect and irreverent social humor, and skateboarding, which in the collective purview we felt were things being wrongfully ignored by the established press at the time. Eventually it became an active professional concern of sorts. Not sure exactly how it happened. It wasn’t by design. There wasn’t a blueprint or anything but I won’t say it was without ambition and motivation. Things that are of your own making and that are in the end run fun generally have a way of playing out… or not.

When my friends and I started Your Flesh back in 1981 not one of us had any idea it would go from 50 black and white copies, hand Xeroxed and stapled, given out for free, and would then eventually mushroom into whopping 20k-plus per-issue runs of perfect bound magazines with worldwide distribution. But so it did.

Upon the launch of this site and moving forward into the future my expectations remain as modest as they were some 25 years ago. Distribution was always a dicey prospect over time, with far too many rat bastards in the mix, but here with the advent of the internet, Your Flesh can now easily side-step that end of the game by eliminating the middle-folk who rob Peter to pay Paul. The people who otherwise stood in the way of my best intentions by standing between me and the money that it took to maintain a print publication—that’s all eliminated now. Consequently, this new forum will allow me to bring this piece full circle again; something that in no small part will provide piece of mind in the short and long term, will allow my friends and I to concentrate on creating content you will hopefully return to often and appreciate, and, all the while making it ostensibly free once again, just like back at the beginning. Just no more paper, ink and staples… no printing bills

As we move forward a large part of this publication’s future is going to include a large chunk of its past, and why not? At my disposal there’s some 20-plus years of prime archival content which I plan for a lot of it to eventually, over time, wind up here for your enjoyment. And meanwhile, in tandem, we will continue to cover what’s going on now with the same editorial eye cast toward the future. Something Your Flesh has always maintained. If you got it flaunt it and flaunt it we will: Your Flesh has always been ahead of the curve, more often than not touting things long before they make a more indelible mark upon the wider consciousness at large and generally beating everyone else to the punch. Peruse through our back-issues section and explore. Compare each issue’s content and couple it with the year it ran, then compare it to the various points of explosion and see for yourself.

Whichever way, glad to be here and glad you chose to give Your Flesh a look whether as a newbie or a long-standing reader. Please remember, if you’ve got something to say, a special request, friendly and or constructive criticism you want to pass along, know of something we should be on the lookout for, whatever. Drop a line and let us know.
